There’s a common myth that long coats are strictly for tall figures. In reality, the secret isn't about height, it´s about proportion and cut. We know that finding the perfect coat when you’re petite can be a challenge, so we’ve mapped out the key details to look for when choosing your ideal piece.

HEIGHT: 5'0" (1.53 m)

THE SHOULDERS

It all starts at the top. The most important factor is the shoulder structure. Look for well-fitted, structured shoulders that define your posture and align the overall drape of the garment. Conversely, oversized or overly dropped shoulder cuts tend to shorten the figure.

THE SLEEVES

The ideal sleeve length should fall right at the wrist bone, maintaining the harmony of the hands and arms while keeping the coat from looking oversized.

THE LENGTH

A common mistake is opting for knee-length coats; they divide the figure right in half and visually shorten the legs. To naturally elongate the silhouette, the coat should fall below the calf or just above the ankle bone, creating a fluid, continuous line.

For reference, the model is 1.53 m (5'0") tall and is wearing size XS.
